Rick is finishing a graduate degree in Clinical Counselling at Tyndale University, currently doing his placement with A New Leaf. He has worked as a pastor for almost thirty years which has included family, couples, relationships, adolescents, group and individual pastoral counselling and coaching. He has has been the CEO of a small corporation and the chair of boards which includes team building and regenerating organizations – helping teams and organizations get unstuck. He is a systems trained student psychotherapist, and enjoys working with individuals, couples, families and groups. He is also comfortable working with small teams and small organizations. In addition to psychotherapy, Rick is also trained as a level 2 life coach. He is a student member of CAMFT, OAMFT and AAMFT. If requested, Rick can offer faith-based counselling and coaching.
Rick enjoys working with a wide variety of people and challenges, including career and work challenges, life transitions, relationship problems, communication problems, moving passed feelings of being stuck, goal setting, life purpose pursuits, existential questions, marriage and family issues, teens, and more.
While Rick likes using an integrative systems approach which includes Cybernetics, Bowen, Experiential and others, he also likes using a postmodern approach informed by Narrative and Solutions Focused therapy. He can also offer an MBTI informed perspective for relationships, groups, and teams seeking therapy or coaching.
Rick is married with four kids. He’s a competent public speaker. He currently offers online counselling and coaching with the option of meeting in the Elmvale location.
